Getting cabin fever? A great way to beat the blues is by exercising. Since we just got a fresh pile of snow, cross country skiing is a great and fun way to work up a sweat. There are a bunch of places to ski in the Rochester area:
Chester Woods: Located on Highway 14 in Eyota, this is a great place to go on windy days as most of the trail is in the woods. Five kilometers of groomed trails are available for all levels of skiers. There is a fee for Chester Woods - $5 per day or $20 for the year.
Douglas State Trail: This is a groomed trail through a forest and rolling fields. A Minnesota ski pass* is required for the 20.8 km of trails.
Eastwood Golf Course: Lighted for night skiing! This is an eight km trail (just one km is lighted) and it's great for classic and skate cross country skiing. Groomed for all levels.
Essex Park: Eight km for classic and skate skiing.
Quarry Hill: Ten km of groomed trails through the old quarry. This is a fairly flat area. Quarry Hill also has ski by candlelight events throughout the winter. Rentals are available for kids and adults. They also have snowshoes for rent. Trail fees apply.
